Born and raised in The Windy City, Salvatore Toia grew up a big sports fan.
As a kid, he learned everything he needed to know about sports from his dad, going to baseball games in the summer, tossing a football around in the fall, and learning how to skate and shoot slapshots during the winter. Today, Salvatore still holds a strong dedication to his favorite sports teams: the Cubs, the Bears, and the Blackhawks. As an entrepreneur, Salvatore Toia hopes in incorporate his passion for sports into his professional career: https://www.linkedin.com/in/salvatoretoia.
The Cubs make up part of the National League (NL) Central division in the MLB. They play their home games at one of the most well known baseball stadiums in America, Wrigley Field. In 1907 and 1908, The Cubs won back-to-back World Series championships becoming the first Major League team to do so. Unfortunately, the team has not won a World Series since. They are currently in the longest championship drought in professional sports in the U.S. Despite the drought, Salvatore Toia continues going to games all summer long, cheering on his beloved Cubbies all the same.
*After many long years of showing his love, support, and belief in the Cubs, Salvatore Toia has finally witnessed his first World Series win by the Cubs. In 2016, the Cubs earned their first World Series championship in over one hundred years finally bringing an end to the terrible drought. For Salvatore Toia was the place to be to experience the entire World Series from beginning to end. Watching the game with his friends, family, and other fans all around was an experience he will never forget in his lifetime. Salvatore Toia will be telling his children and grandchildren about where he was when the Cubs won game seven for years to come.
The Bears are part of the North Division of the NFC in the National Football League (NFL). The team currently holds nine NFL Championships (pre Super Bowl) and one Super Bowl title. The Bears hold the NFL record for most players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well as the most retired jersey numbers. Salvatore Toia is a big fan of Mike Ditka, retired tight end and Hall of Famer for the Bears. His current favorite player is running back, Matt Forte.
The current Stanley Cup Champions, The Blackhawks are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference in the National Hockey League (NHL). Since their founding in 1926, the team has won six Stanley Cup championships. The Blackhawks are one of the “Original Six” NHL teams along with the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Boston Bruins.
